What is the difference between herringbone and chevron?
Herringbone blocks are cut square and laid in a staggered zig-zag, so each block meets the next at a right angle. Chevron blocks are cut on an angle so the ends meet in a clean point.
Does herringbone cost more to install?
Usually, yes. There are more pieces and more cuts than a straight-laid floor, so labour takes longer. We quote supply and installation together so you can see the full cost upfront.
Will herringbone work in a small room or hallway?
It suits them well. The diagonal movement draws the eye along the room and can make a narrow hallway feel wider.
